“It’s easy,” said the instructor. “Just count to five and pull on the main chute,” the instructor continued. “If that doesn’t open, count to ten and pull on the reserve chute.”
“Super easy,” he concluded. “Then you’ll float slowly to the ground, and our bus will be there to drive you back to the airport.”
The man jumped out the plane, and pulled on the main chute. Nothing happened. He pulled on the reserve chute. Nothing happened.
He looked down at the ground which was approaching fast, and said: “I bet that bus won’t be there to pick me up either.”
I wonder what rationale was used to justify the government awarding a $14,000,000 grant to some university to study the peeing speed of cicadas. Did the think the cicadas could be weaponized? (I’m just guessing at the grant amount, BTW)
10 feet per second of flow rate!!!!!!!!!! Amazing!!! What happens when they run out of length? (Sorry if you don’t get it. Believe it or not, it’s a cryptic joke :D )
Random tidbit – many people who have been deaf since birth that gain the ability to hear later in life are surprised to find out the sun does not make noise.
How does anyone measure what an elephant hears? Do you take their word for it? Can you provide a recording of cloud sounds, or do you mean elephants can hear thunder?
I used to waste time playing a flash game sponsored by Fanta. A vampire sat upon a giant bottle of orange soda and you’d open a bottle to fizz out for propulsion. You had to collect bottles and avoid snags to keep moving forward. I’d imagine the cicadas could do something similar and it wouldn’t be too difficult to change the “skin” on the old flash game.

A man went skydiving for the first time.

I hope someone wasn’t given a government grant to investigate that about cicadas.

Another reason I don’t want one landing on me. (I meant a cicada, but I don’t want an elephant or a skydiver to land on me either.)

Cicadas spent all those years underground holding it. BOOM!
