It was my older sister who got me out of bed early Christmas morning. Not sure why, after all her snooping and shaking of presents….

When I was a kid when we opened our gifts early, did not have toys to play with, seemed Christmas time was over, then when we got older decided to wait made Christmas last longer. Then married, we had toy’s for our kids to play with, then I suggested afternoon, was hard. This morning husband woke up crabby, my daughter’s man woke up crabby, and me I woke up happy.Merry CHRISTmas to SS fans.

One year my parents had to erect barriers to keep me and my brother out. Christmas memories!

Opening presents wasn’t due until after a nice big breakfast at my childhood place. That became tradition after one very early and especially unpleasant Christmas night.

My sister and I would have breakfast in her room, about 7 AM, then wait until our grandmother came over from next door. She wanted to see us come downstairs in our PJs and see our faces as we looked at the tree (Dad finished decorating it after we went to bed). Then, of course, our gaze went to the fireplace where our stockings had been hung the night before. They were stuffed with candy canes, nuts and oranges (oranges, soon after WW 2 were in short supply, so they were precious). It was a different time.
