Uh oh. Reminded me of Garrison Keillor‘s sizing up tofu. It was supposed to add years to our lives but he concluded they would not be the best years of our life.
I actually love the time of year when the okra comes in. Not sure about boiling it, but I feel certain Janis didn’t serve him boiled plain okra. Not when there are so many good Louisiana things to do to okra.
I wonder if that little project that exasperate him yesterday made him miserable enough to suffer through a boiled okra dinner to continue his misery? Sorta like “I’m already miserable, bring on the okra!”
I use a similar line… “My doctor said that me low-salt diet combined with exercise would help me live longer. I wonder if it is just going to seem longer.”
I love boiled okra!!! Add 1 capful of vinegar to the water and it doesn’t slime. You don’t taste the vinegar. Drain, butter and eat! Southern eats at their best.
Ever try to juggle foods permitted when one has multiple medical conditions? We are suppose to eliminate or at least greatly limit fats (which means meats also), carbohydrates, and just when one thinks it can’t get worse – cruciferious vegetables. Not much left.

Why buy it? Had boiled okra once. I still don’t believe all the people who tell me I should try it fried.

I would walk away from the table and just go hungry if any kind of okra was on the plate.

Why boil okra! There is already enough slime in the world.

Best way to serve okra is with 1/2 cup of chocolate chips, 3 scoops of ice cream (any flavor), whipped cream, and throw out the freaking okra!

I grew up on okra and like it pretty much however it’s fixed. My least favorite method is pickled though.

Fried okra when the okra is fresh, as in came off the farm that morning, is delicious!

Is Arlo trying to channel “Don Quixote”? In his book, Cervante has the good Don complaining about having nothing but “gripes and grumbles” to eat.

No one has mentioned gumbo. It’s the only reason okra exists and it’s a dang good one.

If he and Janis are moving South he had better get used to things like that.

Why did either one of them buy okra? There are many other delicious vegetables you can eat.

Misery. Synonym for boiled okra, kale, cabbage, Brussels sprouts, cabbage and cauliflower. Oh and pumpkin spice.
