I knew this is going to be like the “Bye Guy” thing. I bet eventually the “Blay Pall Kid” nickname will evolve and kids will start calling him Paul instead of Nate
Know what I would do if I screwed up like that? When we were kids my sister and I were always saying words backwards on purpose. I bet a lot of you did too. Like Telephone was Phela-tone, Smart fellow was, F—t smeller, oh well, you get the picture. My brother got me one day when he told me I was the flower of our family. He said it with such a sweet smile, then said, "Yeah, the blooming idiot.) Also, Dog Latin (aka Pig Latin) was always backwards. We had fun playing with words like that.
What Nate did, reversing the first letters or sounds of a two word phrase, is called a spoonerism. It is named after British clergyman William Archibald Spooner. For example he might say “a blushing crow” when he meant “a crushing blow”.
I’m not even gonna lie, but saying “blay pall” is funny and not embarrassing. I might even do that on purpose just to amuse the crowd. I’m guessing that the kids from his school also saw that, but they’ll think Nate’s funny.
