Overrated.
That last panel is the best one for explaining Caufield.
Would have been better off reading “The dream quest of unknown Kadath”
I prefer books by Geisel and LeSieg.
Wrote 31 books?
Choosing a book vs reading a book?
How many Carl Hiaasen’s are there?
Native Tongue and Skinny Dip remain my favourites by him.
Never read any of his.
I’d wait for the movie.
Never quite got the running “summer reading” joke in this strip. Is this a thing in some schools?
Love Carl Hiaasen. Best entertainment. He captures Florida perfectly.
Read all his “old readers” novels. Waiting for more….
Never heard of ’em.
Carl Hiaasen challenge. Pick any of his ‘adult’ novels and try to find a chapter where he never mentions mosquitoes, heat, or tourists.
Biography, perhaps?
Carl Hiaasen-an excellent choice for bored readers!
Years ago, Frazz’s mention of mention Carl Hiaasen inspired me to give him a try. I too read them all.
Reading all of Hiaasen’s books isn’t too difficult, since he just keeps writing the same one over and over again.
One-word titles = kid friendly. Two word titles = definitely not. But they are all entertaining.
I didn’t know Hiaasen did any books for young readers. Looking it up, though, it seems (from some of the titles) that they overlap with his other books (at least one features Skink).
An excellent choice. BTW – if you haven’t seen it, Apple’s adaptation of “Bad Monkey” is excellent.
I hope they weren’t Hiassen’s books for adults.
Summer Reading should be done by now
The list of his book titles is long enough to qualify
“Sorry, I meant Karl Knausgaard”
I’m reading “Squeeze Me right now” Coincidence?
Full disclosure – I never heard of Carl Hiaasen before reading this strip. Now I’ll have to look up his works and educate myself.
They remind me of grown up calvin and hobbes…
EXCELLENT choice!
