We used to go camping beside a kill, build a campfire and our trusty dog would run home because it would smell coydogs. But we had fun anyways. (Doggo was smart)
That’s seems to be about how it worked. As they moved around their territory they either imposed on underlings by staying in their homes, or had elaborate encampments.
