Carlos is uncanny good. Looking at P.3. Sparkle you can see the family resemblance to Gertie, just like you would in real people. Could it be that Glenna wants to be the “face” personality ? …It wont be pretty, more like pretty mean, alienating everyone ‘Mysty’ cares about.
I STILL find it totally unfeasible that Junior AND Sparkle are so accommodating of someone who not only is a mish-mash genetic freak but also the spitting image of his dead wife
Hmm…I would expect that Mysta’s word balloon in panel 1 and Honeymoon’s in panel 2 should’ve both ended in an exclamation point instead of a period. Instead, Mysta’s conveys seriousness, and Honeymoon is…annoyed?
Glenna Ermine was the buck toothed daughter of the late gangster Posie Ermine. The original Moon Maid was killed in a car explosion meant for Tracy. Mr Bribery came into possession of some of MM’s DNA and hired Dr. Ghote and Dr.Sail to graft it onto Glenna and create a chimera Moon Maid. The Mysta in today’s strip IS Glenna (sometimes called Mindy) Ermine before her DNA was mixed.

3- SPARKPLUG: Whadaya want, tramp? MISTA MISTA: Your man. Moon Law says he rightfully belongs to me. JUNIOR: I’ll pack my things!
SPARKPLUG: Your main “thing” belongs to me so I’ll be keeping that. Gimme a second to get the scissors… JUNIOR: Ummm, on second thought, I’m really happy in this drab house with the brat and the hillbilly hausfrau…

A brief history of Glenna Ermine (from the Dick Tracy Wiki), before she was later kidnapped by Bribery’s people and transformed into Mysta:
Glenna sought to win the Moon Maid Look-Alike Contest that was sponsored by the Sunny Wheat breakfast cereal company. She and her father bribed the Sunny Wheat executives with $5,000 to declare her the winner. When the executives named Sparkle Plenty as the winner instead, Glenna led Posie to their offices, where Posie killed them. Posie then sent Glenna to stay in Florida for a while, so she would not be implicated in the killings. The murders led Dick Tracy and the police to investigate Posie’s perfume bootlegging operation.
Glenna (who was now referred to as “Mindy”) later returned to the city, where she was visited at her father’s apartment by Sparkle Plenty and Dick Tracy. Sparkle felt a bond with Mindy over their experience in the contest, and brought a pair of Moon-style boots as a gift. Mindy did not return Sparkle’s warm feelings.
After Posie discovered that he had lost his hat (which contained evidence that could implicate him in criminal activity), Mindy tried to help him recover it from a carriage horse. Mindy rented a convertible and, posing as a drunken socialite, attempted to grab the hat off the horse’s head as they drove past. The frightened horse ran wild, and Tracy eventually acquired the hat and the evidence inside.
Later, Mindy was staying in the downstairs apartment in the Cute Skin perfume shop when Lizz came to investigate the store’s operations. Mindy saw Lizz’s badge in her purse, and assaulted her with a pair of scissors. Mindy and Madame Parfum (the shop owner) were arrested, and later freed on bond by their attorney Habe Corpussle. Following their release, they went to stay with Posie in his abandoned greenhouse. Mindy was present when her father was arrested after getting caught in his own quicksand trap.
looking at the August 26 installment with Mysta, iMho, I think Charles should give Mysta/Glenna a bit of a more upward slant to her eyes on the sides to give her more of an exotic, alien-ey look to her… her features just appears too Earth-like… Mysta may have been Glenna at one point, but Mysta is the more dominant trait… she needs to appear even more alien-ish BESIDES her antennae and cats-eyes,as well…
