Bill Mahr tells a story about going to the dentist as a kid. Riding his bike there, getting teeth either filled or pulled without Novocain, then riding his bike back home
When my kids had a loose tooth, they would come to me to get it out. I’d wibble it around, holding onto it the whole time talking to them. Occasionally, they would hold onto my arm. Even after it came free (only known to me), I would still be in there as though it were attached and then finally take my hand away with the tooth. They were always surprised that they never felt the moment it came free.

You won’t get a visit from the Tooth Fairy until you yank that thing out!

Take the mid out and you’ve got it.

I remember my grandfather telling me that back in the early 60s. But nobody in our family actually did it — at least not to me!

Mine fell out normally, as my kids as well!

Well Zoe, let Hammie figure out a way to get that tooth out, and you may appreciate your dad’s approach much more.

No, Hammie. He won’t let you have his sword.

You’d poke your eye out, Hammie!

My dad used the same technique on me. After I learned how, I took over the process.

Hammie anywhere near a sword is an ER visit waiting to happen.

Surprised Zoe didn’t ask Hammie if he had a loose tooth.

Hammie, that’s because you have to master the use of the shield. You need to get defense mastered before you’re put on offense.

Even in the real Medieval times, you weren’t allowed to have a sword at that age!

Hey I did that. The tooth, not the sword.

This is from the same girl and boy who have tried more extreme ways of yanking out teeth!
