Do some research on homeowners insurance before you move. You may not be able to afford it or even get it in Florida or the Gulf Coast if hurricanes continue to get worse.
There’s no way I would live near water again. My wife and I lost our house to a flood in 2007. It was several years before we got used to hearing rain without freaking out.
My family lost our very beloved eldest auntie a month ago, today.
Please know that while you were always the ones to help others, it’s very much okay to let that be reciprocal and ask the younger people in your lives to help you with home or personal things that become annoying or overwhelming.
You’re not a burden to us. Please don’t let any broken thing or overwhelming situation cause you embarrassment. It’s just life. It’s okay.
We want to help, like you helped us.
It’s harder at the end seeing all the ways we could have made your lives easier and more comfortable, if we’d only had the chance.
Overall, we’re glad she got to live all but the last week of her 85 years in her own home and on her terms.
We’ve gotten to finish up prior projects and fix other things so it’ll be a very nice house for a vet or other elderly person.
Just really wish she had let us do all of that for her.

I am so tired of this story arc of “will we or won’t we move.”
