After a moment of silence, he farted and did not care!
Given an infinity of universe containing an infinity of celestial objects, can we say that a bullet with infinate range, fired into a random of sky, would eventually hit another object?
Brain teaser in high school involved selecting which limited number of objects would be most useful on the Moon from a larger pool that included a revolver and a rubber raft. Both of those made the cut in the actual answer for the sake of propulsion (mainly the compressed air inflater from the raft).
I remember a trivia line about the sand thing. It said that the number of distinct stars you can see with the naked eye (a few thousand at best) would fill a thimble (though I think a shot glass is more appropriate, but this WAS a kid’s book) the number of actual stars in our galaxy would fill a good sized wheelbarrow (roughly 1-400 billion) but for all the galaxies in the observable universe, every dry grain of sand on every beach and desert wouldn’t be enough (they SPECIFICALLY said dry sand, so I’m assuming if you scooped all of the sand from the bottom of the ocean that would be enough)
Ω has been calculated to 40,000 figures. That to me is a more impressive calculation than the scientific guess about grains of sand. Any one can say something like that and there is no one who can say, " I re-counted them and that number is not true"
