My eleven-year-old daughter hid her candy in a “place where you will never find it” in order to hide it from me when I got in from work around 2330 Halloween night. She was so proud of herself when she came home from school the following day because her bag of candy was where she had left it. I did not have the heart to tell her I found it purely by accident when, earlier in the day, I opened the cabinet that the pots are in to get a saucepan to make some soup. She has since shared some with her father who, in all honesty, does not need it.

Bad error, Spud. You told your Mom that there was no way you could get to school today and then told her how you could.

So, I envision Spuds Mom unceremoniously wheelbarrowing him right into the bus stop sign?

She should have left him just as he appears in the second panel when she wheeled him to the bus stop.

Has the bus stop sign always had that dent in the pole?

Spud’s mom has no sympathy. Nothing is going to get between her and her shows.

I always thought they were called “Wheel Barrels” as a kid which makes some sense – a barrel holds stuff and it’s got a wheel to make it easier to move – so what’s a barrow?

Can I barrow a cup of sugar?

I gather that Spud had a single Mom, and she did what she needed to do to keep a roof over his head. Love her even though we don’t see her.

Why is the bus stop bar dented?

What happens to the wheelbarrow next? It’s just sitting there abandoned. (Hartlepool ought to have municipally owned ones for the safe return of the legless from the pubs—see Andy Capp on GC.)

So who pushed the wheelbarrow to the bus stop? If it was Spud’s mom, then why did she leave it at the bus stop.
