In BC, we have brown recluse spiders which can give you flesh eating disease, but rarely does anyone get bitten. We also have black widow spiders in the Okanagan. I had never seen one, then one evening at dinner, my son spotted one on the ceiling right above me.
With all the critters in Australia that can kill a person, maybe we should have left the continent alone. Give massive amounts of respect to native Australians for surviving not only the critters, but surviving us too.
From Wikipedia:Deaths by verified spider bites are exceedingly rare (e.g. not one in Australia since 1979).“Spider facts”". Australian Museum. 28 April 2022
ALL spiders are poisonous, all of them. The vast majority of them are not dangerous to humans either because their poison isn’t strong enough or their “fangs” are too small to puncture human flesh. But ALL spiders are poisonous. All snakes, no.

And most of them live in Australia.

You’ve already beaten the odds by being bitten by a venomous spider, Wiz. You’re unlikely to beat them again by getting a winning lottery ticket.

There’s an episode of “Peppa Pig” that teaches children that spiders are cute and harmless. That episode was banned from transmission in Australia.

Venomous to us.

They say many spiders have venom that would kill humans, but their fangs are too small to pierce our skin, so we dodged that bullet!

Wrong – ALL spiders have some kind of venom – just they all vary on how they interact with human immune systems. Many of them we’d never notice

All things being said, you still need only that one to be in trouble.
