Awww this is nice. I feel like this is a rare instance where nate and his gf don t last only a couple months, but definately something more. Every single time it looked like strike 3 would happen, daphne and nate would just get more close. Hmmm? hopefully they never break up! 9/10 Strip!!

I noticed that this relationship is different. nate usually has 1 gf a decade. which usually lasts 7 months, this one started may 12, 2023. which is 18ish months, 1 and a half years! that’s alot more! (maybe this one’s permanent, {but their relationship comics won’t appear as much}I dont know)

Big Nate fanfic: Dee dee’s boyfriend

Chapter 1: A Surprise Meeting

Dee Dee Holloway was never one to be caught off guard. She was smart, confident, and more than a little sarcastic. But when she met Sheldon, she was thrown for a loop in a way she hadn’t expected.

It all started on an average day at the middle school. Dee Dee was walking with her friends, sitting at her usual spot at lunch, and dominating the school’s annual science fair with her brilliant projects. Everything was normal until a new student arrived.

“Hey, who’s that?” Dee Dee asked as she spotted the new kid walking through the hallway. He had messy brown hair, glasses, and a shy demeanor that was almost the opposite of her own.

“That’s Sheldon. He’s from the other side of town,” her friend, Jenny, said, pointing at the new kid. “I heard he’s into chess, computers, and all that geeky stuff.”

Dee Dee raised an eyebrow. “I like chess,” she muttered under her breath.

Curiosity piqued, Dee Dee found herself following the boy to the library after lunch. He was sitting at a table, head down in concentration over a chessboard. She couldn’t help but notice how deeply focused he was. She had to admit—he was kind of cute.

Without a word, Dee Dee slid into the seat across from him. “Hey, Sheldon,” she said nonchalantly.

He looked up, startled. “Uh, hey, you’re Dee Dee, right?”

“Yep,” Dee Dee smirked. “And you’re the new guy who thinks he’s the best at chess.”

Sheldon blinked, unsure of how to respond. “Uh… I mean, I play a lot. But I’m not the best. Just trying to get better.”

Dee Dee grinned. “Prove it. I’ll challenge you.”

It was a moment of spontaneity. Before she could stop herself, she set up the chessboard and took her seat.

Sheldon hesitated, but soon, his natural instincts took over. The game began, with Dee Dee’s sharp moves and Sheldon’s quiet yet strategic play. Neither of them spoke much, but the tension was palpable as they went head-to-head.

Honestly, I love the story, but we had this arc for too long, just to confirm together that they love each other. I mean, don’t they already know that?

5/10, just like BNFF1, disappointed, yet I am glad that this arc is most likely over. I do love how we have Daphne time, which we haven’t had in quite some time, hopefully we have a Daphne arc that isn’t related to the same strip for the past 3 weeks. Good strip though!

Now it’s getting sappy!
