Reusing gift wrap is something I associate with my mom’s “saveyness.” (She was a kid during the Great Depression, & her mom grew up in poverty.) We used to unwrap everything very carefully, remove the tape & trim off any tape marks & other messy spots, iron the remaining paper, & save it for the next time. I still unwrap presents neatly because old habits die hard, but I don’t save the paper any more.
These days most people seem to use gift bags instead of paper anyway. They’re meant to be reused, & I have a ton of those…
My parents got married and had their first three children in five years during the Depression. One of their strictly enforced economies was that wrapping paper was not ripped off packages; we had to carefully peel off the tape and save the paper for re-use come the next Christmas or birthday. I let my own kids rip away wrapping paper to their hearts’ content; that’s part of the fun of getting presents.

What do you expect from a box?

I suppose you have to wait for him to unwrap himself.

My mom made us do that, but she mostly did so that we would not rush through our presents as fast.

We reused wrapping paper when I was a kid. Each piece had it’s own story which got longer when reused.
