We were told at age 12 that the parents would provide shelter and food. Everything else we needed or wanted we had to work for. I started babysitting at 50 cents an hour, 75 cents after midnight. Made roughly$3k a year and had to save half for college. Then they used our savings to pay for a move before my senior year and I was without income or savings.
