SPOILER ALERT*** Let me tell you something, Lizzie… Candace is jealous of the decent, stable home life that you have. She’s constantly at war with her mother’s live-in boyfriend, who is ever-increasingly eyeing her with nefarious intentions, while her mother turns a blind eye to it all…
I thought that what Candace wanted was Anthony. At least until she changed her mind at the dance. I’m guessing that his being Blandthony had something to do with her decision to ditch him.
And speaking of which, why has Liz forgiven him over all that and not Candace?
And to break her and Anthony up so she could date him once and then dump him. Bet Candace has a score card going like the notches on a gunslinger’s pistol handle.
Ellie is smart enough to know that you NEVER initiate a conversation with a teen by saying, “You’ve been awfully moody lately”. Would Ellie appreciate Liz saying. “Boy, Mom, you’ve sure been crabby lately. What’s up with that?”
Ah yes the fickle finger of female friendships. BFF’s one day, cat fighting b!tches the next. If one could harness the energy from the conflicts that teenage hormones produced, the world would have a free supply of energy in perpetuity.
I remember when this first appeared; Lynn was asked in an interview if Elizabeth’s behavior was patterned after her daughter’s, and she said “No, it’s patterned after mine. I was the one who, as a teenager, kept stomping around the house, slamming doors in frustration!”
I can relate to this. I made a friend in 7th grade, but she would always inevitably find something to be mad at me about and “dump” me for other friends. But we had so much in common and had so much fun when hanging out that we would always make up again. But by college I got so tired of the drama she would cause for no reason and I said enough. But I also still miss her and wonder how it could be different today and if we could have worked through it again and be loyal friends today.
Kind of telling for a day like today! We just celebrated a great American famous for having friends, not enemies! It was a nice reminder for me anyway! Hail to Chief! ;-)

When we later learn of Candace’s background, Liz will know why that girl NEEDS a good friend.

Listening to teenagers is like going around in circles and getting dizzy with the speed.

Sadly, too many people are like that.

Liz needs to learn that friends aren’t possessions not to be shared…besides, they are best when shared with other people.

Best advice Elly can give is for Elizabeth to learn from her brother’s mistake. When it came to Rhetta, Michael shat where he ate.
