John has learned that when Elly will not let it go, then it is time for him to go.

The harder you try, the worse you look. Just let your hair flow naturally which it has been all along. Just resume your natural style. Your problem is not the hair – it is your wrinkles. You are now middle-aged. You might consider seeing a professional make-up consultant to guide you on how to conceal your wrinkles without breaking the bank or make being too obvious. The make- up of today does magic if you take the time to scroll social media make-up posts.

It’s a variant of the “does this dress make me look fat?” question. Of course John can’t give an honest answer. He should give NO answer.

John is getting out of the room while the getting’s good. He doesn’t want to say one word. He has often said the wrong thing, so it’s wise of him to leave the room without speaking.

I see all these commercials for these magic creams that take away wrinkles under the eye, but I think “sure, but you’re an old lady and that cream doesn’t help”. Just accept yourself.

No way, no how! John knows too well that any answer will end up with him being thrown out of the house!
