I’ll rise, but I d**n well refuse to shine!

So don’t do them at the same time: First rise. Then shine.

It actually appears that he already did both: 1. He arose – he’s up and awake. And 2. He’s shining with his clever response.

I’ve been known to growl in response, “You can make me rise, but you can’t make me shine.”

more of a slump and dull kind of morning

I’m not polished enough to shine.

Amen, rising is tough enough by itself.

At a sleep clinic I was asked, “How often do you wake up feeling refreshed?” Me: “I have no idea what that would feel like.” They weren’t able to help with my insomnia.

I’m a re-enactor, several years ago I was filmed for a documentary on the revolution (Charles Kuralt was the narrator of this one) -hire re-enactors and they bring their own ‘costumes’ and ‘props’ (IE guns) and know how to use them all-this director wanted us to charge-screaming at the camera over a distance of about 1/8th of a mile. we’d start out cheering but would all go silent at the 1/2 way point just to have breath to keep running. after the 4-5th take I said “We can run or we can shout but we can’t do both.”

That’s what my wife tells me all the time.

I think Grimm shines best when he doesn’t rise.

No electricity at 5:45 today. Impossible to shine and difficult to even rise. Try me tomorrow.
