10 days ago, we adopted a 2.5 year old lab/pit mix from an older couple that couldn’t take care of her any more. Her name is Angel. What a blessing she has been to us already. She is already bonded with our other mix breed and us. Adopt an older dog if you can. Puppies are wonderful but they need house breaking and training. Older dogs need adoption sometimes too. It’s my wife, me, 2 dogs (96#, 60#) and a cat on the sofa watching tv. Merry Christmas! Harry, thank you for a smile a day.

After my 14 year old shepherd Fred died, I adopted a 50 pound shepherd on a euthanasia list. She loved all people and other dogs, but climbed my 5 foot wall and was impossible to keep in the yard. Both of us got so very lucky to meet a woman who has a ranch, boards and trains dogs, has her own rescue pack and was looking for a female shepherd. We met on a canal road with several of her dogs and mine immediately took to a 150 pound Malinois, racing up and down the road and swimming. What an incredible life she now has, pack walks everyday and living with several other people.

Make sure the exercise matches the food intake, healthy in-shape dog is happiest.
