Very peaceful there on the beach—unlike in Normandy on D-Day!

He is too self dismissive of his medicinal agriculture growth, harvesting, and distribution career.

Doesn’t he know that the whole point of life is to toil endlessly for the profit of others?!

Have we ever seen either of this pair on a surf board?

Look at that beautiful view. Zonker has chosen a path that differs from society’s dictates … but it’s clear that Garry Trudeau has a lot of affection for him.

I certainly do … I’m still following that different drummer.

Instead of fireworks, we’re going to burn some books.

Zonker has left Sam home alone? That’s what I understood, but I just want to make sure. I don’t remember if anything happens to Sam while her parents and her babysitter are gone.

So Old Surfer Dude was most recently seen in the non-rerun strips just a couple of months ago, on October 13, 2024. Just recently in the reruns Zonker said he was 87 years old in 2002. Assuming the characters are aging in real time, as has generally been the case, that would make him 109 in his most recent appearance. Looking good, and still surfing!

Wonder if Ol’ Surfer Dude mentored the wise azz on the hill in “Pearls”…..

I think Zonker is very wise. I may do the same. Good morning, sitting here watching the world disappear.

He knows how to recover.

This is perhaps Trudeau’s most epic and well-designed single panel strip in D’bury’s history, imho.

I’m from San Diego, but I don’t live there anymore. It’s things like this that remind me how much I loved it.

Does anyone else find the Lubowski-Yoda-Buddha-mentor mashup annoying?
