Spouse convinced me to volunteer at a Habitat ReStore after I retired. I enjoyed it, but quit during the pandemic and never went back.

Earl could repair leaky plumbing, but after his first job, the charity would fire him.

I made a resolution to quit drinking alcohol 15 years ago. It takes all of my resolution keeping powers to keep that one going.

I had a volunteer job I really enjoyed, got shut down for pandemic, and then everything changed, get buzzed to get in, new system on the computer, staff different. They were the best office crew I ever worked with. Not anymore.

Well, let’s see, one definition states, “a Resolution typically refers to a firm decision made about something, a determination to do or not to do a particular thing at a future time or date,” a loophole exists in there. I can resolve to do or not do anything I want to do or not do.

If there is Meals on Wheels in your area they rely on volunteers. As a MOW driver I can say that the people who receive the service really appreciate the service and the interaction with the drivers. For some people it is the only regular personal contact they have.

I used to make a living from illustrating but since the comic industry collapsed in the UK, my work is published for next to nothing and so it’s practically voluntary.
