I don’t bother staying up any more. Besides, I have very little faith that 2025 will be a “happy” year.

All is true, guys. And I love Rover’s haughty look in frame 3!

I have a friend who is so concerned about his dog being exposed to fireworks that he wants me to drive around in the wilderness around midnight to avoid the fireworks. It’s too cold to stay still. He also wanted to go up to the mountains to play in the snow, but he’s not even leaving until 5 because our friend has appointments early in the day. It’s dark by then, but whatever. I don’t think he knows what he’s getting into. Other than visiting Rosylin, Washington (Ciclely, Alaska) to kill a few minutes, I don’t know what else to do.

Here in the UK, our celebrations include fireworks and dancing in Trafalgar Square.

For those of you who don’t know, Trafalgar Square is named after the Battle of Trafalgar – an important victory over Napoleon in 1805 – in which Lord Nelson died. Lord Nelson’s statue is on top of a huge column in Trafalgar Square and many of you will have seen it on visits to London.

Living on the West Coast means the ball drops at 9 pm, which is fine.

I don’t stay up anymore. I may wake up to fireworks, but I don’t have anyone to kiss but my cat- it’s his first New Year’s Eve. Five months old.

Last time I stayed up was as 2000 rolled in. My kids had some friends over for the night and we made a big deal out of it, we made smores, lit off fireworks, and had some collectables for them.

I’ll be in bed by 9:30 and wake up the next year.

My dog would sleep through it. I go to bed at 7 so that’d be about time to get up and pee.

We welcome the new year in a time zone where it occurs much earlier than here.

I don’t bother staying up. The firearms owners announcing to anyone interested that they have weapons and ammunition on the premises, and probably not well secured, will expend copious amounts of noisy, expensive and dangerous ammunition to whatever ends they imagine, for a ridiculously long time, waking me in the process. “Last one with a live round turn off the lights.”
