Talking about fishing is less memorable than actually fishing, so I can see why Earl forgot about him. Maybe Opal talked about the weather with someone she totally forgot about.

So, if you really want your husband to remember a couple you met awhile back, try describing the man’s wife. It would help if she happened to be a tall, slender, bosomy blonde who liked to wear tight skimpy outfits. Yeah, don’t ask me how I know this! XD

Earl’s memory is good, but short!

Like the song said: “The older you get / the more you forget / to remember what you should recall. You fill in the blanks / in your memory with things / that may not have happened at all.”

First 3 panels my parents were the same way.

Spouse has very spotty memory. I, on the other hand, simply remember the things I WANT to remember.

I remember lots of things, not necessarily in the correct chronological order mind you.

I’m reminded of a scene in ‘Father Ted’ between Ted and Dougal.

Old guy here. Still remember everything that happened years ago, even the stuff that didn’t.

It’s all what interests you. My wife remembers all these people we met, describes them in detail, and I don’t remember them whatsoever. She also really remembers the food we have eaten. Places we have gone and what was there is what I remember, and my wife doesn’t.

No Pitzer Prize for you. He’s the guy you pushed into that pool of boiling hot acid.

It’s too bad we can’t get our brains tuned up when we can’t get our bells to ring.

Fishing conversations are intended to past the time, not be memorable.

I’m going to start embellishing my failure to remember stuff like Earl does. It will give people another reason to worry about (around) me!
