Our neighbor’s daughter, back from college has been spoiling our cat with treats. Now he pesters us for food then turns up his nose since it isn’t to his liking.
Most of the time, they just want attention. Often, they settle for food. It’s why you should try to own more than one cat. They can give each other attention, so you won’t feel guilty all the time.
I had to finally put my 3 cats (at the time) on scheduled feedings. They get much less picky and demanding with a schedule. My beagle will eat anything at any time. I ruined a pair of gloves last night around midnight grabbing things out of her mouth that probably can’t be washed out of the gloves. Since she worked yesterday and had a very good time with it, she had way more treats than necessary, and what she was trying to eat at midnight really shouldn’t be considered a treat. By anyone at all. I don’t even know how it got in my yard.

You have to keep tabs (get it?!) on your pull around the house if you’re a cat. Where do you stand in the social hierarchy? This is important.

When my cat overlord headbutts my leg, I’m sometimes not sure if he wants food or if he’s just marking his territory.

My dog does that.

When my cats swat or headbutt me, it usually means they want treats.
