True story. I had been planning to retire Nov of 2023. My wife and I had a meeting with our financial advisor around March 2022, and I asked him if I might retire a year early, in Nov 2022. He looked over our numbers and told me that I could basically retire any time I wanted. The NEXT DAY I went to work and told my boss I was retiring on July 1st! Felt an immediate burden removed, and I’ve enjoyed my retirement from day one. Had a good career of 48 years, but it was time.

I’ll never forget the year I got to the top of the pay scale – so depressing
