I knew Ches had a sales plan. I’ll bet he comes over, chats up your cat and offers a 50 /50 split. A couple of tail swishes and she is ready to sign anything!
That’s why I have cheap curtains and cheap furniture. I finally retired my old, ripped-up couch last year (or was it the year before that?). It was at least 20 years old, bought used (I have no recollection of the purchase price. I replaced it with a used couch that I got for free. So far, the cats haven’t scratched it up. In fact, I haven’t caught them scratching it at all yet. I keep it covered to try to keep the cats from scratching on it. But, if it ever does get all torn up, maybe I’ll find a cheap replacement in another 20 years or so (if I’m still around 20 years from now). My curtains are in okay shape. I’ve had them several years, bought on clearance at Walmart. If the cats scratch them up to the point where I need to replace them, it’s no big deal. I’ve already gotten my money’s worth out of them. The depreciated value of the curtains would be zero, or something close to that. My couch might be valued at $50 if I’m lucky, but nobody paid that much for it at the rummage sale it was in and that’s how I got it for free. The Catholic church holds these estate sales 3 or 4 times a year. Some of the things that don’t sell after their 3 day sale is left out free for the taking. That’s where I got my couch.
NATIONAL CLEAN OFF YOUR DESK DAY. I’ve been meaning to do that, but I haven’t gotten around to it yet. I need to clean out my refrigerator, too!
NATIONAL PEACH MELBA DAY. Another dessert brought to us by an internationally famous chef. French chef Auguste Escoffier invented the elegant dessert back in 1892 or 1893, depending on the source. He created the dessert with peaches, vanilla ice cream, and raspberry sauce while employed at the Savoy Hotel in London. The dessert honored Australian soprano, Nellie Melba. The chef was known for naming his creations after famous people. (This sounds really good, but peaches are out of season. But I do have some peaches in my freezer, which I froze last summer. But I don’t have raspberry sauce, either. But I have frozen raspberries, so maybe I could make a sauce from those. And I do have vanilla ice cream. But I don’t have a recipe for Peach Melba. But I could Google it! I think I need some peach melba. And soon!)
I mostly have blinds, but in the study -computer room, i did get a small curtain the sort of valence kind. I didn’t have a rod, so I got a tension one. each cat tried to climb the curtain & it fell rod & all. I had a cat window seat under it, so no injuries ever, but nobody climbed or shredded it.
When I move, I’m planning to splurge on new bedroom curtains and matching bedspread. I’ve picked them out already, and they are on my wish list on Amazon.
Ah, the old Furniture protection racket. Fluffy can’t be that lovely if they’re willing to be involved in a scam with a stinker like Chesney. On another note, saw six juncos, two vireos, and ten varied thrushes while out walking today.
