We had a French teacher whose wet under arms visibly left large wet patches under her dress sleeves and a strong odor wafted in the air as se aggressively wrote on the blackboard. She was elderly in an era that kinks never made any think it was sexy.
Yea. Yea. Spaceman Spiff is back again. Thank goodness. Life was getting so same old same old. : ) [Been a reader for two decades and sometimes the repeats tend of blur into gray boredom.]
I loved when Watterson would mess with the normal panel structure of the Sunday strips, knowing that many newspapers would leave off the first row of panels to save space.
I can empathize with Calvin, here. I was in college, and we had a guest lecturer come in. It was a very warm day, in a very warm classroom at around 2:00 p.m. That was the worst time of the day for me to attend class. The guest was lecturer spoke in a monotone, it was boring, and I was trying my absolute best not to fall asleep, because I thought it to be incredibly rude to do so. I thought by concentrating on tapping my pencil lightly on my notebook it would allow my brain to focus on something so I wouldn’t dose off. The next thing I knew, my pencil had fallen from my hand and had dropped onto the floor with a clatter. I had fallen asleep during a blink.
During my career, I found out that time of day was a terrible time for me to attend business meetings, dreaded any meeting in the afternoon, and avoided them as much as I could.

Aww, I wanted to see what happens when Spiff fires his weapon set to “Frappe”.
Mediatech about 20 hours ago
What’s the chance he’ll get a reduced sentence for good behaviour?

The place has a real hangout atmosphere
Vistoso Quartz Hill #6 about 20 hours ago
A fog? Unnatural fogs are being reported all over the place now.

That “planet” looks like Monument Valley, Utah—where John Ford made memorable Westerns (mostly starring John Wayne).

Miss Wormwood is a crashing bore! It’s a wonder that anyone can maintain attention in that class!

Did Miss Wormwood just break the 4th wall? :D
Bilan about 19 hours ago
Spiff should’ve brought his six shooter instead of his death ray blaster.

Last panel … it occurs to Spiff that he is not the first person to have occupied this cell.
The Reader Premium Member about 16 hours ago
Somewhere in the desert is a death ray blaster set on frappe!

Being sent to the corner was a puzzling punishment as a child.
Years later l realised l was supposed to feel humiliated.
Teachers were just lovely.
SquidGamerGal about 15 hours ago
Wow! Did she finally sent Calvin to dentition?!
bobtoledo Premium Member about 14 hours ago
Last panel looks like the inside of my old locker.
einarbt about 14 hours ago
Should have set it to something other than frappe. In the last panel is this the principal’s office or Miss Wormwood’s private dungeon?

Thank you once again, Bill, for the absolute LOL. Trying my hardest to not buy the complete Calvin and Hobbes but it’s hard.

I just do not miss school, or exploring planets for that matter…

Calvin’s vocabulary is tremendous but he can’t add 2 + 4?

Actually, “Frappe” is the sound Miss Wormwood’s arms make when she writes on the blackboard
wiley207 about 11 hours ago
Nice visual effect in the third panel, and I also love Calvin’s face in the fourth panel!

There were times in H.S. Trigonometry class that the fog rolled in.

If the teacher keeps a log of Cal’s stunts, she could write a best selling book titled “How the heck did I survive?”

I hope they continue this story arc.

This comic came out the year Starbucks started making frappés and frappuccinos… and long before they were well known. My guess this alludes to the high setting on a blender with the implication that shotting someone with that setting would totally obliterate them.

I don’t think Miss Wormwood is amused….

Today’s cartoon is me exactly when I was Calvin’s age.
