From my personal experience taking Fortran when I was in college (yes I’m an old goat) you can’t. You just wad it up in frustration, make a new one hope it was the only mistake and you have all your punch cards in order so you don’t have to go through them again next time to find the problem.

Fun fact: the font used in the second two panels is not a real thing. By which I mean… the original MICR (Magnetic Ink Character Recognition) character set, which first introduced people to these blobby characters in the routing numbers on checks, contained only the digits 0-9 and four special characters used by banks. There were no alphabetic characters because the font was only intended for things like account and routing numbers. People came to see these blobby characters as “computer type,” and poster designer, cartoonists, etc., started hand-drawing MICR-ish letters. Eventually these were turned into fonts like Lazenby, which were not intended as computer-readable. Now you know.
