Being a guy, and an ex-engineer, I have a strong bias toward trying to solve problems. Finally a lady friend said, “Just shut up!! and listen, when a woman wants to talk to you the first words out of your mouth should be, do you want to be Heard, Held, or Helped?”

Some people will do that, right in your face – especially if you’re not lavishing attention on them – the only subject that holds their attention.
