We have/use timers on just about everything electrical. In particular the TV so it turns off after I fall asleep which happens more often than I care to admit. (Wife knows better than to wake me.)
Installed 4 motion-detecting switches in the basement and we never leave the light on anymore. We don’t even have to turn them on when we go down with our hands full. Here’s a tip: Home Depot has the best selection.
It’s an investment of time issue. Time to walk to the switch and flick it? 2 to 4 seconds, and no need for curse words. Time to turn off the power, install a timer, restore power… about 15 minutes, or more. I would rather spend 2 to 4 seconds now than 15 minutes or more down the road.

Infinite nags. Install a timer and she’d just be on about something else.

Is there such a timer in your house?
Same as with the green light (go-sign) for pedestrians here: turns off too fast.

A $30 timer to save $.35 a month in electricity.

Here’s a thought. Maybe SHE can install the timer if she wants it.

Better a light left on than a stumble down the cellar stairs …

No timers in my house, except the one for the oven when I bake.

They do it all the time!

Yeah – if you took care of things, there would be no need to nag.

or she could have turned it off knowing he’d probably forget.

If they’ve converted to LED lights then leaving one or two on is not a big deal money-wise. I still try to not let them burn when not needed.

Reminded of motion activated light switch in bathroom at work. Someone would go into stall and take too long… darkness followed by panic!
