One obvious recent shift is he isn’t doing much coaching. Is this a temporary phase? We’ll see. Today is a new day, he appears to be coaching. Tomorrow we might be back in the stables and that’s OK. I’d maintain then, now, goal in end was not necessarily to help a(n almost always) male youth, it was getting things back to “normal” as defined by winning sporting games at Milford HS, within a boys football, basketball, baseball world. Today, you got it. And Leo said it, winning is the only thing that matters. What is Gil Thorp more than anything, currently? Well, it would appear he is – a role he did not have for a long time in this comic strip – a Dad. Keri Thorp is now in high school and a they/them? Think on it this way. What if this were your child? What would you do? Keri seems to have a great dad. And Gil now has a scowling ex who snaps, “Try harder?” Well, that’s more realistic than Mimi Thorp’s Miss America stand by your man days in the hands of an artist, Jerry Jenkins era. (2/27/03, Mimi, wowza, whereas 2/1/03, little Keri, yowza.) Thank you Gil Thorp, 67 years young, still looking good, still there with advice and guidance. Then, now, I read it first thing in the morning and I look forward to what is ahead.
