Let’s hope the Capybaras aren’t mistaken for Nutrias, the invasive species of rodent the The U.S. Fish and Wildlife Service is urging Americans to fill their bellies with. The USFWS describes nutria meat as lean and mild, with a flavor similar to “rabbit or even the dark meat of a turkey.” (—
Memories! I lived in Sao Paulo many years ago. When I was 18, six Brasilian friends and I took the bus to Rio (about 6-8 hours or so) for Carnaval. The last night, we went to Canecao and sambaed nonstop until 4 a.m., and we just had time to wash up and change to catch the early morning bus home. I curled up and went to sleep. When I woke up in Sao Paulo, I couldn’t walk and had to be helped off the bus. It was worth it, though. So much fun. I was so exhausted, I didn’t get out of bed for two days. It was super hot in Rio, running over 100 degrees, too, which didn’t help.

To be happy be wise like an owl, be as loyal as a dog, as clever as a cat and be a friend to all like a capibara.

Love the detail of the webbed feet. But, I wouldn’t expect anything less from Nancy! ❤️
