A newspaper thrown by Red rarely lands on the front porch or the doorstep at the front of a house.

If it was a domed or mansard roof, it would roll right off.

Does this mean Red is going to let Old Man Hayes retrieve his own paper?

Red, walk up and put a paper on old man Hayes porch. Be a sport, might help your Xmas bonus.

Throwing newspapers wasn’t an option on my route. Everyone had a specific place they wanted the paper.

Best paper route my son had when we lived in a city was at a luxury high-rise apartment building—all he had to do was place the papers in front of the apartment doors. Great in the winter, great tips, too.
