Holy Toledo! Brenda Starr, reporter for the Daily Flash, is going to make a guest-appearance in Dick Tracy! I didn’t know that Tracy knew her, but I can’t say that I’m surprised, either. What lead might she have on the Kadaver Kase?
I see they also colorized yesterday’s strip. Wow. I don’t have words. Thank God they completely ruined Mr. Staton’s great art from yesterday and went completely against his artistic intent. Making the strip look inferior, what a wonderful choice. No wonder some clamor for color everyday. I’m sold now.
Maybe Lizz is looking up the history of the man named Baron Clovis, rather than refering to the unidentified skeleton made up to look like him. If he was involved with “the King” back in the day, there would probably be a record of him in police files.
Staton, Curtis – You guys are the best if you are about to do a cross-over with Brenda Star (if that is possible). Just the reference gives you huge props in my book.
@Doc 1947GYeah, I was rushing it ;) I suppose if I /really/ wanted it to match last weeks’ coloring, I should’ve used the blue and green instead of teal and purple. It’s funny to see that some of my joke coloring choices match what the colorist actually ended up doing >_<
My Comic Geek mind is reeling! After all the classic characters we were treated to in Tracy’s origin story, I didn’t think Mike could top himself. But – Brenda Starr!Mike, you must be a comic geek, too!(I hope none of those stiffs turns out to be Smokey Stover!)
Oh, Mr. Curtis… when you said “surprise” you did NOT let us down! If I remember right, The King was a supporting player in the Crewy Lou arc, which played into the first appearance of Bonnie Braids (hint hint wink wink nudge nugde). And, when The KIng was arrested, Crime Inc. filled the void.Keeping track of all this begs the question… when will we see the Staton/Curtis run in graphic novel format, a la Celebrated Cases and Blackthorne?

Good morning all…
Very interesting….

I must admit I’m more interested in “The King.” I wonder if this is the same “King” that Crewy Lou once tangled with, back in 1951.

How cool is that? Nice to know Brenda went back to the paper after her own strip ended. I wonder if Honeymoon knows Annie and Dondi?

“The Daily Flash?” Might Dick Tracy’s contact turn out to be Brenda Starr, who (post the conclusion of her own strip) decided not to retire after all>

Lizz is looking especially delicious in panel #2! By the way, when was the last time that Tracy played a “hunch”…

Wasn’t “the King” replaced by Mr. Crime? So this may actually be related, to the Mr. Crime arc. Can’t wait to see Ms. Starr.

I knew the B&W was too good to last.

Maybe I am alone on this, but since the Kadaver arc started, I thought I have detected some Ditko influence, especially in the store and lab scenes.

Brenda Starr??Maybe Sam and Hank O’Hare once had a thing! He’s into Butch perhaps…
harkherp about 13 years ago
Kent of the Daily Planet would be a better choice. Jimmy and Blaze Rize? Hmmm,,,,,,talk about a self centered relationship!

Sadlly Dondi died of a heroin overdose many years ago…The wartime memmories caught up with the lad!

Sadly, the creator of another iconic strip passed away today. Rest in peace, Bill Keane.

My strip actually appears in B/W until I click on comments. Then it’s in color. Best of both worlds!

Button man for the King? The King died in ’77.
