Now that Gunther has revealed his plan completely, I can see he knows nothing about how high school kids would react if a fight was about to start. They would all circle round and start yelling, “Fight! Fight!…” and it would be a long time before an adult could break through the ranks and stop the fight. Half of the people watching cars race are there to see crashes.

Gunther would have been better off taking a few punches in the empty hall. Well, he lost the $20. The other kids WILL be cheering Les on.

People keep writing “Deus Ex Machina.” Does that mean that something interesting will inexplicably occur?

Even though this has already devolved into inanity, it’s still more interesting than yesterday’s comments where somewhere around 30 people felt it necessary to let Packer12 know he(she?) made a mistake on the date.

Anybody else worrying about the parallel with the California 5th-grader who died of a head injury after a few minutes of fighting with a classmate? Several girls tried to separate them but the boys held the girls back, wanting to see the fight.

In real life the wimp would either get pounded or bring a gun to school and start shooting.

Thing is, the crowd won’t stop it. They’ll be calling for blood. That’s the way crowds work in high schools when there is a fight, heh. And what about bullies that are smart? Bullies in cartoons are always portrayed as complete morons, but that is unfortunately not always the case. They are not always so easy to deal with…

Gunther’s plan is, I fear, an invitation to a thrashing. Knute is much more sensible today!

May I stick in my humble oar? Bullying in schools is much in the news these days. It seems to me that Evans is approaching this very topical subject in a comical and satirical way—and he MIGHT just have a really good payoff in store for his readers. Let’s see . . .

I do think that anything that helps to bring this problem into the public eye is a good thing.

Someone mentioned Principal, perhaps that’s Gunther’s plan all along and he’s keeping his cards close to his chest.The principal really can’t stop bulling unless he sees it..But if it’s stopped at school, what going to stop it from happening in any other part of the city.

As a long-time Luann reader I’ve got to say this is the dumbest story line I’ve seen to this point.

It has stalled. Bullying is a major problem – the MPAA just gave an R to the movie “Bully” dealing with the problem so it can’t be seen by the audience that needs to see it. The coaches and their ideology are winning, folks, and kids are dying as a result.

Put your glasses back on, Gunther and have Knute take a video of the showdown on his iPhone. Evidence & a bargaining chip.

…actually, I think Gunther could deflect a lot of the bullying attention off of himself, and onto Les, if he would just call out in a crowded hallway “Hey, Leslie, don’t forget our date next Thursday!” (Gunther did refer to it as a “date” yesterday, but Leslie seemed to let that go…interestingly enough…)

I thoroughly agree with those who say: “Please put an end to this”. It is terribly boring…and unrealistic. I sign on each day, hoping to see a different story line.

They have spent WAY too much time on this storyline and left us completely hanging after a week with TJ and Ann Eiffel. Get back to THAT!!! This one is getting a tad boring.

Anyone else sick of this story line? just let gunth take the beating and end it already.

If you guys are really so bored with this storyline, why do you keep coming back to comment on how boring it is? Just check and then leave. Jeez! The artist already said he doesn’t read the comments.

Oh well. Thanks for the memories of childhood drama. After 19 gradeschools with fights in everyone I was pretty much OVER ever being bullied. Because I had a younger brother I really tried to morph into the protector…without a spandex bike riding super-outfit!…fortunately HE was genuinely popular AND a great athlete.

Hang in there folks. Only one more day to pass and then Thursday……High Noon in Pittsville High. Be brave Gunth!

This is the longest and least interesting story line Greg has ever done. I’m really getting tired of it. Move on!

When asked about what I would do to combat workplace violence by my super, I told him to post the company’s weapon and violence policies at the front gate. Everyone knows that will stop everything.

If all else fails Leslie will get in one good punch everything will be stoped by a teacher. Leslie will get expelled and Rosa can treat Gunther’s wounds.

maybe interject a one day look into the life of tj and anne, or brad and toni, or luanne, or what about toni’s ex? does he really have cancer? maybe even the parents.

Greg might be sincere in his decision to deal with the topic of bullying, but this also might be the wrong place to do it. It’s a comic strip with funny looking characters and I haven’t even smiled, much less laughed, in the last month. I do not intend to be critical, just hopeful that he will get back to lighter subjects. He has an excellent cast of characters to work with, and his artistic skills have only improved over the years.

Gunther doesn’t know much about mob mentality does he? Unfortunately the crowd is more likely to call for blood than help him in the real world but in a cartoon I guess it could go down like that…

Ahhh, So… Comics are supposed to be a laugh a minute. No patience with a comic that deals with REAL issues and doesn’t solve them in 30 minutes (or 3 days in a newspaper). And solve them with violence – either to the bully, or to the victim (if he doesn’t take the easy way out by using violence to combat violence). And we all know how well THAT works in our schools and in our international conflicts!! Really weird how Greg’s strip coincided with the Ohio violence..…you don’t suppose THAT kid read Luann and jumped to the wrong conclusion that shooting the bully is the best way to solve his personal dilemma?! Oh let’s hope he didn’t read all these posts and think, “That’s the solution! I can’t kick these jerks, cuz they’ll just come back later and beat me senseless. Maybe a gun IS the answer…”
