Would Blackjack fit in here? He’d actually run toward Tracy, although he wouldn’t do much more than ask for his autograph. Probably not what a criminal mastermind wants in a lackey.
Mr. Crime’s gang may look formidable to some, but I can’t help feeling that they look like they’re lined up for the St. Valentine’s Day Massacre. (Of course, they’d get nothing but a fair fight from Tracy.)
Very interesting group of villians. Chester Gould would be impressed. Years ago he drew a sample strip of all of Tracy’s villians coming together to face him. It seems that team Tracy have made that old vision from the master come to pass.
Funny, though, most of the classic Gould stories ended with the baddies running from Tracy, including LIttle Face, BB Eyes, and Mumbles…. It just never worked out very well for them.
I see Mike decided spelling Little Face as two words; Mr. Gould used the one word spelling later on in the dailies, the Sunday’s (drawn earlier) used the two word spelling. Pruneface went through the same thing…And Panda is NOT Mr. Crime! Read yesterday’s comments. :-)
The current list of evil ones in this strip is so perfect. That’s one of the things I love about Tracy inc. They can be somewhat “over the top” and still remain on the ground. I hope that makes sense… Nobody does it better than Tracy.
i checked the dec 2, 2011 strip and its somewhat vague… panda could have been reading the questions aloud to himself and then replying as mr crime. you never see panda actually typing, and if he has a voice recognition device, why would he need his hands on the keyboard? no, seems to simple to me.. i’m sticking with somehow panda is mr crime.
The idea of a smash & grab robbery is you smash some glass to break into a store, which sets off the silent burglar alarm, but you quickly grab some goods, load it into a truck, and leave before the police can get there (you hope). In practice they often get away with it for a while, but one of these nights there will happen to be some cops already close by and they’ll get there faster than expected.
If we had a vote for which 2 villains will survive, I’d say Mumbles & B-B Eyes. They are the most iconic of this group, and the only ones who are Chester Gould originals.(Okay, I guess you have to count Panda, but he wasn’t really a star). Now, this isn’t to say that the current DT team hasn’t offed some of Gould’s creations: Flyface & the Fifth, and (offstage) Wormy Marrons & Thistle Dew. But, I hope the afore-mentioned favorites make the cut.

Kind of curious about what Little Face will be like after all that time in the joint. This strip rocks!

Creepy! Great setup for what Mike’s told us is coming.

I’m getting the feeling Panda is Mr. Crime. All he does is run things.

I’m going to go out on a limb and speculate that Davey Mylar is Mr. Crime. His hitting on Rize was just a test of her loyalty.

Is that a typo for smash-and-grab?

And leave us not forget Little-Face lost both hid ears as well to frostbite while attempting to escape Tracy. He’ll not be a pretty sight.

A good thing they offed the impossibly revolting Flyface and his pal Fifth. Maybe they could bring back Blowtop? This may be funny!
