I feel I have to repost from yesterday:

Matthew: Lila, do you want to call off the wedding?

Lila: No, but I have to be sure you can fulfil my womanly needs.

Matthew: But, Lila, look at me. I’m the Tom Cruise of the medical profession.

Lila: That’s what I’m worried about.

A VIRGIN? Way to go, man.

No, I’m not joking. It is very commendable for a man to hold on to his virginity. It proves that he is a real man, a man who can hold responsibilities and control his biological functions enough to use his mind for what it’s meant for.

And if no one can appreciate that without mocking it, then all hail Matthew for being a real man.

It’s just hard to believe. I mean, I’d respect a man very much for holding marriage so sacred, but I’d still find it unbelievable. Does he tell that to all his friends? & no peer pressure? No ridicule? THROUGH MEDICAL COLLEGE? Don’t tell me that

At her age, it’s a fair point on Lila’s part that she shouldn’t have to teach her new husband how to have sex. Matthew should find another virgin – he’ll be much happier.

Interesting discussion. My (now ex) wife and I were both virgins when we married. Stupidest thing I’ve ever, ever done. Not being a virgin per se, but submitting to the extortion on her part of waiting until marriage. I should have run far and fast, but wanted to do the “right” thing. If both parties are agreed and on board, probably a good idea and I don’t see any harm. Otherwise, it’s just as manipulative as being pressured into sex.

    Yes, interesting discussion. As a never-married, non-virgin, I am unqualified to comment . . . except to say that sexuality is a skill that improves with practice . . .Seems difficult to generalize. I guess it’s a case-by-case thing . . .

Wow, had I known virginity would’ve sparked such a debate, I would’ve brought it up years ago! Happy Independence Day, everyone. Celebrate yours and the country’s!

I’m 30 years old and still a virgin. Part of me want to wait until I find the right woman (not necessarily marriage), but another part of me is just tired of waiting. I’m really split on this right now.

Doc being a virgin is a good thing (for him) but Lila being a 21st century girl is going to demand 21st century satisfaction. It will end harariously bad.

It is not impossible;my wife was the first and only woman I have ever been with; it just takes conviction of character (and a lot of prayer)

I married as a virgin, also. Did a WHOLE lot of pre-sex things, which kept girlfriends amused. Also this was about 45 years ago, when things were DIFFERENT! Make fun if you will; it worked for us.

First person I had sex with was my first wife (as was I for her). It was a disaster. Twenty years ago I married a much more experienced woman – and we’ve been learning new and delightful things ever since. As to this doctor, it’s not the virginity that makes a difference, it’s why he is a virgin still. I suspect it’s not so much self-respect as fear of his mother, and that is not a healthy reason.

I have heard that Japanese had a custom where the father would take his son to a prostitute on his 13th birthday. For “lessons”Sounds kinda cool, actually.

Shouldn’t he have told her that before they got engaged? He seems angry at her for not knowing, but how could she?
