Naperville has the statue because it is Mr. Locher’s home town (and there are some amusing pictures on the web of the Tracy statue, looking as if he’s wading, in a midsummer flood in 2010, just months after its dedication—it’s on the Riverwalk of Naperville). But the Dick Tracy Museum is in Woodstock, Illinois, Chester Gould’s home town.
Yeah, as far as I know the museum is still closed. I appreciate the Naperville reference but I suspect very few others got it. A little too much of an inside joke?
Some people seem to have forgotten that what appears to be so is not always the case. Here’s to the magic of comics and the creative possibilities open to the very talented Team Tracy.
When I was a kid, I was always fascinated by Dick Tracy’s famous profile. I’m sure I’m not the only one who tried to draw it, but I could never get it right. I thought it was so cool, and yet, I always thought “no one could actually look like that in real life.” But the sculptor who created that statue actually made the profile look like a real, 3 dimensional person! Wow!
Actually, Mysta Tracy is dead. “Moon Maid” is a title/nickname that was given to Mysta when she came to Earth. As such, I don’t think it’s wrong to assign that title to another moon woman who has come to take Mysta’s place. Granted we don’t know anything about the mystery lady yet—and who knows, maybe it is Mysta. But if she does turn out to be a lunar laser lady who’s come to fight crime, I wouldn’t have any trouble calling her Moon Maid, and especially since she looks and dresses like the original.
You’re right. I cross referenced the Aug. 26 strip that has the official coloring, and only Themesong was wearing a yellow hat and coat. I apologize to gocomics colorist, he/she did not make a mistake on the hat colors.
@ 60s fan, Where did you get the neat avatar? On my home page, there is one for each comment, depending on the comic being commented on but I don’t know how to use one for myself.
Phishface is under arrest, and it looks as if the story is winding down -BUT WAIT! THERE’S MORE! – Or, at least, there should be. What about the murder of Arthur Curry, the Aquarium director? What shred of evidence did they actually collect to tie Phishface to the murder? Unless, perhaps, Chum caves in and tells all, they have nothing but a hunch to show who killed him. Another story with wonderful potential seems to be fizzling out too early.
Tracy fans: If the stars and Moon line up, close to this time next year, there will be an event at a location between Woodstock and Naperville, IL that will have a Dick Tracy tie in. The groundwork is being laid. Stay Tooned!

I’m sad to report. But, the museum in Woodstock closed in 2008. Unless it reopened recently.

I prefer my kind of town, but might venture north to Woodstock to pay respects.

I visited the museum in Woodstock about a year before it closed. A neat place, especially for Tracyophiles like me.

Yup, I’ve read the same thing, that the Moon Maid story will run for another six months. That’s good news for me because I love having her back!
