I was a “crossing guard” for years, now I am a “traffic constable” because so many parents take their kids to school. We have to direct traffic to get the busses in and out of the school. Not too many “walkers” now-a-days.
Oh give me a break, bus services haven’t picked kids up at their homes in years and years. They have designated corners where the kids have to walk. That way they pick up small groups. The only personalized pickups these days are for the short bus kids and rural farm routes.
After Covid, when we had staged openings, our schools staggered their opening times, and we had multiple runs. HS/MS was A/B/C days, with a third of the students going each day, and Wednesdays were virtual. We each had more than one elementary school run, with kids sitting every other seat. Do the same thing with full buses, is what I’m saying! (And BOY! Did we make a lot of money that year, since our runs were longer!)
Gee, if only Ed knew a couple of young people who own a movie theater, and thus have their days free, and could probably use a job that offered benefits…
you couldn’t pay me enuf to be a school bus driver. Between the hours, lack of respect, screaming kids, ungrateful parents…. kudos to anyone out there that does this job!!
Well, the “joke” ain’t much, and again we get two panels of people standing around mouthing inanities, but lookit them bricks in panel two! Oh, how lovingly rendered! And as a bonus, look at the row of rivets over the bus door! If only so much work were put into finding a joke…

I’d love to know what sort of jobs Rocky held before he landed this cushy gig.

You call that a thought? How long did it stay in your head before it died of loneliness?

How about the pediatric ER? That’s where Ed’s passengers end up anyway.

When I was in high school I had to walk to the bus barn/lot and wait for the driver to start the route.
