Why, there goes one of the trombones now, playing the Debbie Downer “Wah-Wah” music!

Shouldn’t Harry be home telling all this to Mrs. Dinkle?

Anyone else buying a print of today’s strip, where an extremely vicious and abusive old man relates a very dull dream OR is telling a true story about forcing children to perform complex music and choreography in a monsoon while he delights in their suffering? I plan to hang mine in the guest bedroom. Because I hate my guests.

What I like most about this strip is that it distracts me from the fact that the richest man in the world just staged a coup of the US government (albeit with an assist of inaction by the GOP congress).

Don’t look now, but we’re living in an oligarchy.

I’d thought Harry would love the idea of 76 Trombones leading the big parade.

Johnny, where is your trombone that we paid a small fortune for? Gee Dad, I just laid it down on the grass in the rain and walked away. When I came back 8 hours later, the rain had washed it away. I still have the trombone case though. (How old were these kids, 5- and 6-year-olds?)

The year the school purchased trombones was the year that the band turkey sale only raised $3.17. They ended up buying toy trombones at the local thrift shop. The plastic floated moderately well when the monsoon filled the football stadium to overflowing and the water slopped over its rim.

What a mess if the trombone section did not block the piccolo and fife from floating away.

It was like the trombone section took a page out of the Stanford marching band’s playbook.
