    Change can seem strange

    Lives rearranged

    Dad and daughter here

Done are days at boarding school

    This “Peanut” such a dear.

On a new path both travel now

    Together at long last

    Do not look back

    We cannot change

    What happened in the past.

Austin steps up to do right

    Wishes now to make amends

    Shall such happiness be fleeting?

    No telling how it ends.

    Good morning™, clutter collectors!

You have to give Lafayette “A” for effort. I think he will succeed just fine. (I’m not fond of the “Peanut” pet name, however. He means well.)

I believe everything will work out fine for these two. They both want and need each other’s company.

    Time to take a break

From a tale that caused a headache

We’ll instead take a little peek

For most likely less than a week

    I’m happy that “peanut”

Who’s life was in a rut

    Has finally found the one

    Who when her life begun

    Was not around to see

    All that she could be

But now can guide her path

Even help her with her math

    And part of Christmas cheer

They’ll shoot slingshots in the air.

This is Dick Tracy, so their joy will be short-lived.

Today’s strip has quite a lot of similarities to the time Groovy Grove got a new set of “digs” for Tinky (his daughter) and himself, in the midst of the Chameleon/Pouch continuity.

Will the domestic tranquility last? For Christal’s sake I surely hope so! Love today’s strip.

Crystal looks noticeably different. Have they decided to upgrade her look, or is that just a different inker?

I’m not big on marriage; Uh-huh… watch that be the next personality trait to fall.

Like in one of those “what do you see” pictures, I suddenly started seeing Crystal’s nostrils as eyes and, as the kids say, I can’t unsee it.

Here’s this week’s “Lum and Abner” by Donnie Pitchford, the inspiration for the character of Peter Pitchblende in the current storyline.

She’s street smart, I can tell. She’s not holding high expectations too. This may work out, and I hope

For what it’s worth, I like this storyline better than what’s going on in the dailies – the story of Pete and re-Pete!

I think without her high collar, it seems like Crystal has inherited a bit of Bribery’s long neck.

I’d say Mike done good with Crystal. She starts off as rough cut and a bit seedy and then the gradual transition to a really good person.

Usually I call out a strip when it stops the narrative momentum dead in its tracks, but considering the narrative of the past week or so, this is one time when it’s welcomed.

Peanut is just fine,my mother called my daughter peanut when she was little. Maybe some people on this strip don’t have any kids. lol

It is nice to see Crystal smiling (last panel)! I hope Lafayette is as good as his word in parenting her (but I too find “Peanut” a bit demeaning, often used for a smaller, less potent person—though not intentionally so in this case, I grant). I also agree, however, with the view that this is an often grim adventure strip, and too much happiness rarely is a lasting thing. Austin may yet be put low by the Baddies….

Pardon me while i vomit in my shoes.

What a lovely distraction from the boring main story.. a cutaway to the boring side story

and STILL no mention of the kidnapping attempt either!

Morning Tracyville, your arch nemesis has returned after an emergency road trip to help some friends move cross country.

Has there been a change in artists since October 30th? Crystal looks a little different today, her face is a bit rounder and her neck is out of proportion from what I am used to seeing.
