I love the look that Farley’s giving him in the third panel. He’s saying “Yeah, if you think it’s so good, why don’t YOU try it first?”

Panel 3 and 4. The best parts are Farley’s and Michael’s matching eye shapes.

On a dare, I did eat both dry dog kibble and grounded wet food. I can say the wet tasted yucky but the dry kibble tasted bland.

It’s a win/win Michael. You get fiber, Farley now knows he won’t die from eating it.

All Michael can think now is, “This better work!”

Liz got her brother to eat dog food. That will never be lived down. It will be a family story for every thanksgiving dinner for years to come. Even if nothing is said.

It’s said that my older sister ate dog food when she was a toddler. And no, she’s not a dog; she’s downright gorgeous.

I had a friend in elementary school who would come home to hang out with me and she liked to eat “Little Friskies” (cat food). In hindsight, I think she only PRETENDED to like it just to freak me out. (But she DID eat a LOT of it).

Maybe you should add water so you get gravy.

    Lynn’s Comments:

When my son was teething, I got tired of the mushy residue left after the available teething biscuits had been gummed. I had a dog (Farley) at the time, and in desperation, I gave Aaron a dog biscuit. He liked it. Dog biscuits became our teething chew of choice. Maybe there’s an invention here for an enterprising mom!

Costco dog biscuits are an excellent diet aid. Crunchy and lots of chewing involved.

I remember one time when I was a very little girl, maybe 2 or 3, my cousin gave me a dog cookie and told me they were yummy. I think it was a green or yellow Liv-a-Snap. It was not yummy.

I was at a small family run pet supply store and on the counter they had a sample of a trail mix for dogs. Reading the label I found that it had dried turkey and kale and carrots and some other actual food ingredients. It sounded good and I ate a little. It was good! The gal at the register looked at me funny when I told her I’d be tempted to take this as trail mix for myself.

This what they need to do if they really want the dog to eat. Put the dog outside when they eat or in a dog kennel while the family eats. Then after the family is done and the table is cleared feed the dog. When the family goes to bed the food gos up and the dog waits until the next day to eat. After a day or two the dog will eat what it’s given the big thing is stop feeding him from the table. This worked for my dad’s dogs who were used to eating his dinner, now they don’t even ask for what we’re eating. They know at dinner they’ll be told crate or out telling them where to go inside or out.

    I’m wondering…

Michael is calling him Farley in Panel 1, but does anyone else besides me think that this looks like the dog they got after Farley died?

Anyone else remember Jimmy Hatlo and They’ll do it every time? In one strip, the dog refused several types of dog food, so it was thrown in the garbage. Next panel: Every dog in town was ripping open the garbage bag when it was set out for garbage pickup!

I’ve used a little slight of hand to freak people out. I would hide a small piece of cookie behind my thumb and reach past the cat’s head as the cat was eating dry cat food from it’s bowl and pretend to pick up a morsel and then put the piece of cookie in my mouth and crunch it up. A lot of fun!

I lifted a can of cat food, ready to feed the cat, when my 4 year old sister picked up another and said, “This one tastes better”. I gagged.

In order to get our dog to eat sometimes I’d pretend to eat his food. That usually got him going.

I remember my first dog feeding experience – I was four. I spoon fed our new puppy from a can of dog food, and I ate every other spoonful. It wasn’t half-bad! I was already used to eating hospital food and mom’s less-than-celebrated home cooking. :D

So now we will see a walking, talking Farley while there is a barking Michael pooping in the yard.
