You could not be a kindergarten if you did not know how to play the piano, but back then kindergarten was for 3 hours with a morning session 9-12 and an afternoon session of 1-4 and which ever you started with the beginning of the year, you did the opposite for the end of the year, and during those 3 hours you had recess, a snack, a nap, singing, arts and crafts, and tie your shoes. Kindergarten has come a long way in half a century.
Though I don’t make a big deal of it when I’m around kids, I’ve always listened to children carefully when they speak…often times they have yet to develop any type of filter, and what you hear from the is the abject truth. This truth may often disturb others, but they say it without malice as they are just conveying what they believe to be true.
I grew up in Kentucky in the 1960’s, where I watched a children’s program called “T Bar V Ranch” (T-V Ranch). Their theme was VERY similar to the song above:
“Brush your teeth each morning, get lots of sleep at night Mind your Mom and Daddy, ‘cause they know what is right! Get lots of exercise each day and eat up all your food, And always wear a great big smile, it makes you look so good! Be sure to look both left and right before you cross the street, And be with us tomorrow at niiiiiine, when it’s T Bar V Ranch Time!”
April reminds me so much of my youngest daughter, Katie, who, in time with the FBOFW comics, was born around the same time as April. (Katie was early May). I had her hair styled the same way and is the same color.

April the music critic. I think I know the version April would like:
-————
Keep hair bunned or page boy neat
Use your hands when food you eat
Please and thank you, rarely say
Not polite is the best way
Think of others rarely do
Perfect world for you and you!

She must be a version of “Guitar Bob” from the “Andy Capp” strip.

Becky thinks to herself, “Gaw! I coulda done better than that old hag!”
And, thus begins the inspiration to Becky’s musical career as the Canadian Taylor Swift.

For once, the Ape is right. That “song” reeks of 1972 hippie dirge.
