Three guests reminded me of a brain teaser my family physician asked me in my pre- or early teens: Three men sharing a room at a hotel each paid the desk clerk $10 and went up to the room. The clerk then discovered that the price of the room was only $25, so he gave the bellhop $5 to bring to them. The bellhop decided it would be easier for them to divide the change if he only gave them $3, so he pocketed the other $2. So each man only paid $9, or a total of $27, plus the two the bellhop kept makes $29. What happened to the extra dollar?
