Safer than what would have been the proper colors since they live in the general area of the “wrong” university. Person was probably thinking the white should have been gold.

I’d recommend a booster shot, but I don’t condone violence.

There are only so many distinguishable color pairs anyway. I pity the schools who end up having to choose chartreuse or pink.

It’s wise to know about uniforms. Perhaps deadly not to.

I’m a New Yorker who lives in Maine. I proudly wear my Yankees hat. I do it to troll the natives, especially since the device has not yet been conceived that can measure my indifference to organized ball-moving. It amuses me to see how many people actually waste emotional energy on supporting this team or that to the extent of mania.

The popularity of American college football boggles the Canadian mind. This weekend the Vanier Cup final will be played in Canada, crowning the Canadian university football (American football) champions. I’m guessing if you took a poll, 75% of people on the street would not know what the Vanier cup is.

60 years later, my preferred combination is purple and white. I graduated from Northwestern. Coincidence? Probably.

Boomer guys can use sports as an opening line to have some friendly conversation. I don’t watch football. I play video games. When people start talking about their favorite teams or their favorite players, I have no clue what they are really chatting about.

I followed this cartoon to support a cartoonist from Michigan, but why bother? This isn’t even funny. You insult State and boomers and it isn’t even humorous.

If Frazz had said, “Fanatical football fans,” he’d have a point. I really wonder about Mallett’s animosity toward popular team sports (and apparently their fans), and why he feels the need to express it so often in this strip. And yes, I KNOW he has the right – nobody’s questioning his rights; just his motives.

Let it be recognized that I enjoy, and am indeed passionate about, a whole lot of stuff other people don’t get at all*. So no one should feel too worried if they’re passionate about something I’m not. For example, football. A lot more people like it a lot more than I do. And a lot more people understand it more than I do, and I even played it a little (and I mean a little) bit in high school. But I’m the guy in this particular arrangement who’s supposed to be writing about what it’s like inside his head, so here we go.

Aside from the game, which really doesn’t resemble whatever it was I was doing in the defensive backfield in the ‘70s and probably didn’t then either, I’ve always been baffled by fans’ intense loyalty to a team. The players, who may or may not have come from anywhere near the team’s hometown, are only there for a few seasons. Same with the coaches. Even the uniforms change from season to season, or now even game to game, which is ruining one of the best lines in comedy, i.e., Jerry Seinfeld’s observation that we’re rooting for laundry.

But not enough to keep me from trying a similar joke.

As a handy example, the reason these posts looked different for a week was because my wife and I were vacationing where Internet access was not a thing. We live in Michigan, and it is late November, and we went north — way north, to Churchill, Manitoba — for vacation. Thanks for tolerating, or hope you enjoyed, reading Frazz in the original black and white without having to click through to GoComics-dot-com where my syndicate could see that I do, in fact, have a good following. And thanks if you still did.

I have no interest in sports so my favorite team is Schneider National (the trucking company) sadly, I do not look good in orange.
