Just the other day, walking around outside (for perfectly good reasons) around 1:00 AM or so, I encountered the largest possum I’d ever seen. It gave me a contemptuous look and scuttled off in a marked manner.
During a very windy, bad storm, a baby squirrel jumped on my patio window sill and hovered in the corner….scared to death…he was so scared he covered his body with his own tail….my cat watched him through the whole storm until it finally passed….he looked up at the cat and paused then went in his way….
They’re so cute but I wouldn’t get near any animal wandering in the yard…. one never knows the danger involved…
I had a junior deer hover under my giant pine tree during another rain storm, just recently! They come daily, and run through the yards!
Under my shed I have had numerous families…skunks, raccoons, rabbits, and ground hogs. I love it!
Consider yourself fortunate that it wasn’t a pickle the size of a squirrel, or, Gasp!, a pickle riding squirrel-back. Pretty sure that is one of the signs of the Applausalypse, The Four Squirrelpicklemen.
Could it have been a capybara? I realize that they look more like a guinea pig and don’t have fluffy tails but they’re in the small/medium sized dog size range.

That’s nothing! I once saw a cat the size of a…a…raccoon! (Yeah, that’s it.) And it wasn’t purring, either.

You may not know danger, Face-Off Fellow, but here’s the skinny:
It must have been one of those pumped-up super-soldiers those dangerous squirrels are breeding to augment the coming Rodent Revolution!
Beware! Gloom and Doom!
