I’m only on my first, so not really awake. I’m just awake enough to notice that the snow has gone around here. And the temperature has gone up to 11C (51.8F). Time to put on the kettle again.
True story: I worked at a factory of a large industry. Early one Monday morning, about 6 a.m., I got to the office to see a supervisor look at a coffee pot. It was supposed to have been dumped and cleaned by someone at the end of the work day on Friday. This was the old percolator type. He shrugged his shoulders, removed the stem and basket full of grounds and plugged the pot in to warm up the coffee. When the coffee got hot he poured himself about 3/4 of a mug full. “You have got to be kidding”, I said. “That coffee has been sitting there since Friday!”“Well”, he said “I have to have something to get me started. I have to get out on the floor to supervise my guys and I do not have time to brew a whole new pot and let it perk. I poured myself 3/4 of a cup and I’ll just add water to cut it a little.” He did so and waked out to the factory floor. I still do not know how he drank that stuff.
You can add salt to your coffee to help cut the bitterness. The trick is to add just enough salt to cut the bitterness but to taste no salt. I drink double espressos (3 ounces) that I add four or five grains of kosher salt depending on the blend. It took some experimentation to get it right. Since coffees can vary with bitterness, anything that takes more than five, I do not buy again.
I worked the AM shift for many years and the break room coffee machine was better than nothing. I loved the playing cards on them, a temporary respite from the grind. Grind… LOL

You don’t brew it, just suck the grounds.

Monday morning blend should taste better than other coffee because everyone needs something special on Mondays!
CaveCat87 about 21 hours ago
Who would have thought that there actually is a special type of coffee specifically for Mondays?

If this were the old Pogo strip, Churchy the turtle would note that Friday the 13th comes on a Monday this month.
I’m not familiar with that blend, Garfield. I had an espresso roast which I ground myself and made in a Moka Pot. Too much trouble?

It’s 15 °F on Monday the 13 of January 2025, and mostly cloudy. Yes it’s cold and bitter.
