Hard to believe Kareem taught these guys how to play Apache ball all game, (dramatically increasing their fitness levels in one practice) all for them to score 40 pts in 3 quarters. Speed kills.
This is suprisingly tense and well done too: both sides are matched and while this is a comeback Milford NEEDS Barjas is doing a good job of making it FEEL like they could still loose. And given this is a storyline in Gil Thrope of all things, that’s saying something.
Let’s talk about the D. Championship game, best two teams in the region, and 40-39 at the end of the 3rd? They’ve got to have incredible defense… Or every team in the conference really, really su*ks at offense.
Tobe needs to go over to Gil and say “….I’m gonna’ curl around the pick at the top of the key, cut past a tech defender, position myself in the corner, take the pass, and shoot any easy three and there ain’t a dam thing that you can do about it, coach…”
Friday: Milford wins with a last second desperation heave from half court. Saturday, Gil wakes up hung over in the alley behind a bar, picks up a paper and sees the headline “Milford forfeits after bench clearing brawl”, and then the date!!
Lots of clothing changes during this game. VT has worn four different uniforms: black with white, gold, and teal trim and teal with black trim. Luke has worn three different color shirts: purple, pea green, and a brighter green. Gil has worn two different suits: dark blue and light blue. Is this a basketball game or a fashion show?
Let’s see: Milford had 17. Tobi hit five 3s, that’s 15. Bolton got 2 and maybe a bonus. That’s 17-18 plus 17 equals 40 and VT still kept up. It is the NBA with a very weird scoreboard. I still don’t know how VT makes it back on Defense against the Apache Offense. Luke’s team must be the State Champion Track team.
Josh Bolton? Former White House Chief of Staff? How the hell is he eligible to play, he’s 68 years old! He does look pretty good for his age though, and moves quite well. Boy, the lengths BHHL will go to to try to beat Gil. And speaking of going to lengths, you don’t have to go very far to read today’s Mopped Up Thorp.
First things, first: I owe Henry a Sherlock for the Guitar Classic “Apache”.Today’s Sherlock goes to jslobnick for “When a Man loves a Woman”. MOP’s WHO reference was great, but late.

The Valley Techsters legs should grow weary in the 4th quarter from the effects of Apache basketball. Gil welcomes opponent fatigue.

My VT +4 is hanging by tenterhooks. Time for Gil to abandon Apache basketball and bring Phil Ford in to run the Four Corner offense.

Time for VT to break out the Rhombus while the fifth player serves two minutes in the box for cross checking.

Are we sure about that score, or is it going to change tomorrow?

Tobe is on fire! He can’t miss! Gil better bench him, or they just might win.
