Okay this punchline dosen’t work. Everything else does as it reframes what could easily be another lazy gag of days past about “MEN AREN”T THEY INSTSTEIV" as Marcus simply being really busy with his career… but Delray both was VERY involved in his own wedding and is actively against this one. It only works if he’s doing this to deliberately avoid actually helping. Every man is not like this. I’m sure many actually help withh te planning or if htey don’t it’s because it’s not their thing verus “durr me no help”
I so disagree. When we got married I wanted to go the county building with our parents, siblings, siblings spouses, and our remaining grandparents and get married and then go out for lunch.
Husband WANTED a big wedding. I knew it was a waste of money and a major mistake (big wedding, not the marriage). It took several years before we could have both immediate sides of the family in the same place at the same time again afterwards and we almost broke up – took years for that work out also. Now over 40 years on and he says he should he listened to me.

He’s getting MARRIED for the first time! The poor man is in a state of shock! And will be for hours after the wedding ceremony concludes.

Groom’s function is to show up on time, completely dressed and mostly sober.

If Marcus is having second thoughts, maybe he can postpone it until further notice.

I understand this is traditional, though times are a’ changing?

It was my wife’s second marriage. We went to a Justice of the Peace, spent the money that would have been wasted on a big wedding buying a house.

men typically don’t care about the details of the wedding. all we care about is when do I show up, where, and suit or tux?

“Why should I talk? We both know that my opinion does not mean a thing.”
Spoonbone about 2 years ago
Why would the groom want to offer any opinions? The bride will only respond, "Well, I was thinking of doing the other thing… "

No pro football player would plan a wedding during football season. There is plenty of time in the 7 months of off season.

When I married my GA some fifty years ago, I was just back from Vietnam. I was more frightened at my wedding than at any time during the War.

That’s one great thing about being the groom. Weddings take care of themselves!
