Loretta’s response should be something like, “I’d roast you back, but vegetables are better off boiled.” I used this line (albeit, with different wording) in the comments section of a recent Grand Avenue strip!
I remember an episode on some TV show years ago where the guy is in his apartment waiting for his fiancee and her mother to arrive. He’s never met the mother and is nervous. On the TV is a show where some interviewee says, “If you want to know what a woman will look like in 20 years, just look at her mother.” The doorbell rings. He’s now sweating and creeps up to the peephole. Through the fish-eye lens he sees two faces, his very pretty girlfriend and her equally pretty mother who looks like she could be her older sister. The man is relieved, wipes his brow, smiles and opens the door. In walks walks his cute, slim fiancee followed by her mother who is about four feet wide in the hips and can barely make it through the door. [audience laughs].
Yeah, Leroy can’t stand her mother! I guess we all have that “I’m turning into my mother!” (or father) moments. I hate the times I sound just like her, but I’m not nearly as bad thank God.
It is interesting, and in many ways surprising, when we slowly notice that as we age, we begin to look more and more like our parents, not only physically but also emotionally and temperamentally.
Genes and DNA, you are what your parents passed down to you. My brother is the splitting image of my dad but I have all his physical traits and mannerisms. I have my mom’s dedication and love of music and I look more like her and her siblings.

It seems most genders look like their moms. I look like my mom and I’m glad I do! I loved her and so did my husband.
